The score to the movie was composed by industry legend Ennio Morricone, veteran of countless cinematic soundtracks, both domestic and international. Morricone is more renowned for his atmospheric Italian spaghetti-western compositions, and the catchy futuristic synthesiser-based arrangements  he created to accompany Golob's adventures mark quite a departure from his usual style. The soundtrack was given a commercial cd release in 1992 on the RCA Label, comprising 17 tracks from both The Humanoid, and the movie Nightmare Castle.
hey Ennio..play us some tunes !!
Cinematic composing legend Ennio Morricone

In a frank discussion with Pitch.com, Composer Ennio Morricone gives his opinions and verdict on his under-rated score for The Humanoid:

"The Humanoid was an Italian science-fiction film where I believed I was answering, in my own way, the American science-fiction films with which I was familiar. Also I was recognising the great bravura of John Williams and his Star Wars score. I felt that the {music in those films} was inadequate to explain the infinite, which is what science-fiction wishes to represent. It was a personal answer to the music which American cinema had proposed for space. It gave me a feeling of the infinite, of the mysteries of the world we don't know. When I used to see American science-fiction films, when I didn't approve of certain musical behaviour, I asked myself what would I have done in that case. So when I did The Humanoid, I already had in mind what my behaviour would be. In this case, my behaviour came from a position of, lets call it correctively critical of American science-fiction films".

THE MAESTRO'S OWN HOMEPAGE

The lead track from Morricone's L'Umanoide score, the masterful 'Un Uomo Nello Spazio ' ( A Man in Space ) , was given a radical reworking by German dancemeisters Computer Jockeys, for the 2003 compilation
Ennio Morricone Remixes Vol.2 , issued by Compost Records/Creative Vibes. The cd is well worth seeking out for Morricone afficiendados, and is essential listening for all Groovy Golobs throughout the galaxy :)

As the jockeys main man observed, " 'Morricone has doubtlessly a good sense for creating tunes you'll immediately get hooked  on. At the same time, the very sound of the melody is so catchy it makes up a part as vital  to the track as the tune itself. To me, 'A Man in Space' is a nice example for this. My  remix of the track is mainly based on a variation of the original tune."

Taking their affection of The Humanoid one step further, US synth band Ganymede wrote and recorded masterful dance track 'Love Games' for their 2001 long player 'Euromantique' , the evocative lyrics of which are directly inspired by the movies storyline. Golob's
