When a drifting spacecraft is salvaged by scientists on base station L5 the mystery crystal found onboard is treated as harmless. But the crystal from another galaxy contains the life force of a malevolent alien intent on eliminating all traces of Man from space. A massive explosion ripping L5 apart signals the start of the alien's relentless pursuit of Man. Just a handful of survivors manage to escape in a small under-powered shuttlecraft. But with the on-board computer developing a life of it's own, the survivors find their very existence threatened.. With dwindling air supplies and rations, the crew must make an agonising decision - face the alien, or run for home.
